Compare sign ups for previous years. Go to Statistics and Compare previous years.

This is only possible if the events are combined. If you forgot to add a previous event when you created the new one, you can do this by going to Event setup and Date & basic settings. Click on Advanced settings and enter the ID of the previous event.
